Wilfrid Polke
Iron Knight (Ebernburg)
Wilfrid Polke (born 30 July 1932 in Oels, Lower Silesia; † 21 July 2014 in Düsseldorf) was a German sculptor and painter.
Life
After graduating from high school and completing an apprenticeship as a sculptor, Polke studied at the State Academy of Art in Düsseldorf from 1954 to 1959. He was a professor of aesthetics and communication in Düsseldorf and at the Protestant University of Applied Sciences Rhineland-Westphalia-Lippe in Bochum. His brothers are the painter and photographer Sigmar Polke and the theologian Johannes Polke.
