Valery Ivanovich Galtsov

Valery Ivanovich Galtsov(Russian Валерий Иванович Гальцов, scientific transliteration Valeriy Ivanovič Gal’cov; born 23 February 1947 in Lubny, Soviet Union) is a Russian historian and university lecturer in Kaliningrad.

Life

In 1971 Galtsov graduated from the Moscow State College of Historical Archives (now the Russian State Humanities University). He received his doctorate from this university in 1976 under Sigurt Ottowitsch Schmidt.[1]

Since 1976 Galtsov worked as a senior lecturer at Kaliningrad State University (now the Baltic Federal University Immanuel Kant) at the Department of History of the USSR, Patriotic Pre-Revolutionary History. Since 1984 he has been a private lecturer. From 1984 to 1991 he was the Vice-Rector for Distance and Evening Studies. Since 1994 he has been the Dean of the Faculty of History of the University and the holder of the Chair of Special History Subjects and Regional History. With his wife, he came to Germany for the first time in June 2010, for the 180th Foundation Festival of the Corps Masovia in Potsdam.
