Thomas de Witt († 1645)

Thomas de Witt (* in Dordrecht; † 18 January 1645 ibid) was a Dordrecht patrician and regent. He was descended from the De Witt family.


Born the son of Nicolaas de Witt (1553-1621), alderman and shepen of Dordrecht, and Michaëlia van Loon, Thomas was first named shepen of the city of Dordrecht in 1630. He held office as mayor of the city in 1638, 1642 and 1643. At this time he also served as Bewindhebber of the Amsterdam Chamber of the Dutch East India Company. His marriage to Jacomina Thibauts produced four children.
