Thiemitz is a district of the town of Wallenfels in the district of Kronach (Upper Franconia, Bavaria).

Geography

The wasteland lies on the river of the same name and on an unnamed stream, which there flows into the Thiemitz as a right tributary, and is surrounded by wooded hills. Immediately to the east are estates belonging to Räumlas. The district road KC 2/HO 32 leads to Thiemitz (1.7 km northeast) or past the Lorchenmühle to the district road HO 28 near Kleinthiemitz (2.5 km southwest), which flows directly west into the federal highway 173.[2]

History

Thiemitz was founded in the first half of the 19th century on the municipal territory of Schnaid. On 1 January 1972, Thiemitz was incorporated into Wallenfels in the course of the territorial reform in Bavaria.[3]

Religion

The village was originally Catholic and parochial to Mariä Geburt (Steinwiesen).[5] Since the beginning of the 20th century, the Catholics have been parishioners of St. Thomas (Wallenfels).[8]
