Scanlab develops, manufactures and sells galvanometer scanners and scanning solutions for deflecting laser beams. The products are used in material processing and bio- and medical technology. Blackbird Robotersysteme GmbH and the Belgian company Next Scan Technology BVBA are affiliated companies of Scanlab GmbH.
The company produces over 35,000 scanning solutions per year. These are an essential component of laser processing machines, laser sintering machines, stereolithography machines and laser microscopes, as well as dermatological and ophthalmological devices. Scanlab is the market leader in its market.
Scanlab also supplies innovative high-tech companies such as EOS, which has a monopoly position in laser sintering. According to information in its 2009 annual report, the company has a market share (in terms of turnover) of around 60 %.
The solutions are also used in laser marking equipment for packaging, computer keyboards and numerous other industrial products. Scanning solutions are also used in production equipment for cutting a wide range of sheet thicknesses, fabrics, paper and also in the production of high-tech devices such as mobile phones, plasma screens, computers, MP3 players, solar modules, pacemakers and medical items.
The company was founded in 1990 as Scanlab GmbH. From 1999 until mid-2016, it operated as an “AG” (stock corporation).
