Ronny Büchel (born 19 March 1982) is a Liechtenstein football player.

Club career

Büchel’s first major success was winning the Swiss championship with Liechtenstein’s U17 team, which competes in the Swiss Youth Championship. In 2001, he was promoted to the National League B with FC Vaduz and then moved to the Swiss first division club BSC Young Boys from Bern. However, the 19-year-old was unable to establish himself in Bern and returned to FC Vaduz after just one year. There, too, the offensive player was plagued by many injuries and he hardly got any match practice, which led to his transfer to Chur 97 in the third Swiss league. There he showed a rising form curve again after start-up difficulties, but nevertheless he changed to the Liechtenstein club USV Eschen-Mauren at the beginning of the 2004/05 season, which played in the fourth Swiss league. In 2010, he moved to Liechtenstein club FC Ruggell as player-coach.

Büchel made his debut for the Liechtenstein national football team at the age of 16. Since then, he has played 68 times (as of May 2010) for his country, although the attacking midfielder has yet to score a goal. In 2010, he announced that he would not be available to the senior squad until further notice, whereupon he became a junior coach with the national association.
