Petrus Canisius Jean van Lierde
Petrus Canisius Jean van Lierde, O.S.A., also Peter Canisius Johannes van Lierde, (born 22 April 1907 in Hasselt, Belgium; † 12 March 1995 in Roeselare) was a Dutch clergyman and curia bishop.
Lierde was ordained priest in the Augustinian Order on 30 May 1931. He then obtained his doctorate in theology and philosophy. Pope Pius XII appointed him titular bishop of Porphyreon on 31 January 1951 and Giuseppe Pizzardo consecrated him bishop on 25 February of the same year; co-consecrators were the Curia bishops Luigi Traglia and Felice Agostino Addeo. Lierde worked as Vicar General of His Holiness for Vatican City until 1991.
