Nieul-le-Virouil is a commune in France with 581 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2018) in the Charente-Maritime department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region (Poitou-Charentes before 2016); it is part of the Jonzac arrondissement and Jonzac canton (until 2015 Mirambeau). The inhabitants are called Nieulais.


Nieul-le-Virouil is located about eighty kilometers north of Bordeaux. Nieul-le-Virouil is surrounded by the neighbouring municipalities of Saint-Sigismond-de-Clermont to the north and northwest, Guitinières to the north, Saint-Hilaire-du-Bois to the east and northeast, Saint-Simon-des-Bordes to the east, Allas-Bocage to the south and southeast, Mirambeau to the south, Saint-Dizant-du-Bois to the west and Consac to the west and northwest.
