Laura E. Richards

Laura Elizabeth Howe Richards (b. February 27, 1850; † January 14, 1943) was a US writer.
Her father was Samuel Gridley Howe, founder of the Perkins School for the Blind, and her mother was the poet Julia Ward Howe. She was named after Laura Bridgman, her father’s famous deaf-blind student. Her cousin was the writer Francis Marion Crawford

Laura E. Richards became known for her children’s books and, with her sister Maud Elliott Howe, won the Pulitzer Prize for a biography of their mother

She received the Lewis Carroll Shelf Award posthumously in 1959 for her children’s book Tirra Lirra.
