Giancarlo Sala

Juan Manuel Fangio (at the wheel) and Giancarlo Sala in the Alfa Romeo 1900 Sprint Coupé Touring at the Mille Miglia 1952
Giancarlo Sala (born 15 June 1926 in Milan; † 14 March 1981 in Brescia) was an Italian motor racing driver.
Career in motorsport
Giancarlo Sala was a regular starter at the Mille Miglia in the 1950s. He dropped out in his first appearance in 1950. He achieved his first final classification in 1952, when he partnered Juan Manuel Fangio in an Alfa Romeo 1900 and set the 22nd fastest time. The 30th place in 1955, driven out on an Alfa Romeo 1900TI, was his best result in the 1000-mile race.
Sala won in 1960[1] and in 1961 at the Coppa Ascari[2] ascari in 1960, and was a team member of the Scuderia Sant’Ambroeus, managed by Eugenio Dragoni, from 1962. In 1962 he was involved in the World Sports Car Championship for the Italian racing team, making his debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where he finished tenth, and achieving his best result in the World Championship away from Le Mans with a 12th place finish in the 1000 km Paris race.
Giancarlo Sala remained active as a driver until 1970. His last start as a professional driver was at the Targa Florio, where he retired.
