The canton of Lyon-VIII was a French canton in the arrondissement of Lyon and in the Rhône-Alpes region of France until 2015. It was originally part of the Rhône department and included part of the 3rd metropolitan district (French: 3e arrondissement) of Lyon. The canton was abolished when the Métropole de Lyon replaced the Département Rhône as the superior territorial entity at the turn of 2014/2015, and the cantons lost their function as constituencies.[1] The last representative in the conseil général des Départements was Thierry Philip (PS), who succeeded Lionel Lassagne (UMP).
