Barbara Kisseler Theatre Prize
The Barbara Kisseler Theatre Prize has been awarded annually by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg since 2017 in memory of the late Senator for Culture Barbara Kisseler, who died in October 2016, and is sponsored by the Hermann Reemtsma Foundation. It is endowed with 50,000 euros
The prize is intended to honour the importance and quality of private theatres and independent groups in Hamburg in particular, and at the same time to recognise particularly courageous artistic productions.
Laureate
- 2017: Kirschkern & Compes (Children’s Theatre)
- 2018: Lichthof Theatre
- 2019: Altonaer Theater
- 2020: platform festival at the Ernst-Deutsch-Theater, along with an additional 50,000 euros to enable the “Theater Night 2020”[1]
