Andre (Sänger)
Andre(Armenian Անդրե, real name Անդրեյ Հովնանյան, Andrej Hownanjan; born July 8, 1979 in Stepanakert, Nagorno Karabakh, Azerbaijan SSR, Soviet Union) is an Armenian singer.
Life
He represented Armenia, which was participating for the first time, at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 in Athens, Greece. With his song Without Your Love, composed by Armen Martirosjan and written by Catherine Bekian, he placed eighth with 129 points. For the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest, he read out the Armenian score in the final.
Andre’s birthplace Stepanakert is located in the Republic of Arzakh. In his official curriculum vitae, therefore, the Republic of Arzakh is given as origin, which, among others, according to the United Nations and the Council of Europe, remains part of the territory of Azerbaijan and has led to sharp diplomatic protests on the part of Azerbaijan.
