from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

AeroMobile Communications Limited is a mobile network operator for the aviation industry based in the United Kingdom. It provides technology and services that enable the safe use of passengers’ mobile phones during flight. The services, provided by a subsidiary of Panasonic Avionics Corporation, are often installed in conjunction with Panasonic’s WLAN network and can either be installed at the time of aircraft manufacture or retrofitted to Airbus and Boeing aircraft. Panasonic Avionic’s WLAN network and AeroMobile’s mobile phone network are free services and provide passengers with a choice of in-flight connectivity options.

Since the launch of the service in March 2008, over 40 million passengers have connected to the network and AeroMobile now has over 20 airline partners offering voice, SMS and data services to passengers. Airline partners include Emirates, Etihad, KLM, Lufthansa, SAS, Virgin Atlantic, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific and Turkish Airlines.
